Common questions
What is a CEO coach for a startup?
A former CEO or operator who has run a venture-backed company through the stage you are in, and now spends their time coaching the founders who came after. Not a therapist, not an advisor with a board seat: someone whose only job in the room is your performance as CEO.
How does Titan select CEO coaches?
Out of more than 1,600 coaches interviewed, fewer than 3% made it into the network of 48. A CEO coach in that network has scaled a company past $100M ARR, taken one public or through a sale, or coached half a dozen founders to a unicorn outcome, with the track record to show for it.
What do startup CEOs work on with a coach?
Hiring and managing executives for the first time. Board pressure after a big round. A co-founder who is no longer the right person for their role. Running the company instead of doing the work. Titan has coached the CEOs of Nooks, Pylon, Unify, Wispr Flow and ZBiotics through exactly these.
Will a CEO coach understand my stage?
That is the first filter in matching. A coach who scaled a company to $200M ARR is the wrong match for a seed-stage CEO with eight people, and the other way round. On the discovery call we map your stage, the next 12 months and what the board expects, then match you with coaches who have run or coached a company through exactly that stretch. You meet two of them before you decide.
What is the difference between a CEO coach and an executive coach?
An executive coach works with any senior leader, often inside a large company's development program. A CEO coach works with the person at the top of a venture-backed company, on the problems only that seat has: the board, the co-founders, the executive team you are hiring for the first time, the fundraise. Titan's CEO coaches have run that company themselves.
